1 Syria

The Syrian news agency SANA reported while citing their sources that the US forces took a convoy of tankers with stolen Syrian oil to Iraq. The convoy of 80 oil tankers and other vehicles, including refrigerated trucks, passed through the Al-Waleed checkpoint. The convoy was escorted by American armored vehicles.

2 Afghanistan

The ’Taliban’ announced the capture of the administrative center of the Samangan province, north of Afghanistan — the local mass media reported. Earlier it was reported that the Taliban captured several main areas of the administrative center of the north-eastern Afghan province of Takhar. According to the local mass media — the Taliban captured the 6th provincial capital in the recent days. By now they control 120 cities. The Afghan Defense Ministry reported that the Afghan Special Forces started clearing the city of Kunduz from the Taliban. Several airstrikes were launched against the administrative center of the province of Helmand. The Taliban were hiding in the targeted areas of the city. The airstrikes were carried out by the US Air Force.

The Afghan TV channel 1TV reported while citing data from the UN Children’s Fund that over the past 72 hours, 27 children were killed and 136 were injured in the Afghan province of Kandahar. The organization noted that the children are increasingly pulled into conflict by the armed groups. The organization added that the data indicate the extent of the violence in Afghanistan.

4 Russia — Afghanistan

On 11th of August the Russian presidential special envoy for Afghanistan, and the director of the 2nd Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry, Zamir Kabulov, will take part in the next meeting of the group for the settlement of Afghanistan in Doha, which includes Russia, the USA, China, and Pakistan. Zamir Kabulov stated that he will discuss with the representatives of the Qatari political office of the Taliban the territorial seizures of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

5 The USA — Afghanistan

’The New York Times’ reported while citing a source in the US administration that Joe Biden doesn’t plan to adjust the plans to pull the US troops from Afghanistan, despite the ongoing offensive of the Taliban. Joe Biden expects that the Afghan government has the strength and resources to counter the Taliban. If necessary, the Pentagon will provide the Afghan government with the necessary resources.

6 Russia — Azerbaijan

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that during a telephone conversation, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the ways to normalize the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. «The importance of the resumption of the activities of the Trilateral Working Group under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, aimed to unblock the economic and transport ties in the region, was mentioned as well» — the ministry stated.
