The USA accused Iran of striking military bases in Iraq
This is a special program from the ANNA NEWS. I am Constantine Reztsov.
The ’New York Times’ reported while citing their sources that in the recent months, the Iranian-controlled groups have repeatedly attacked the US military facilities in Iraq with combat UAVs.
According to ’The New York Times’, the attack drones were filled with explosives. Their fragments were later found and identified. The analysis of the drone pieces showed that the UAVs were manufactured in Iran, or by using the Iranian technology. The targets for the attacks were «the Iraqi bases, including those used by the CIA and the US special forces».
The article claims that the targets of the «Iranian» strikes are the hangars where the American equipment is located, including the UAVs. The ’New York Times’ concluded that the pro-Iranian groups are trying to «reduce the US intelligence capabilities» in Iraq.
As a recent example of the UAV attacks, the «New York Times» mentioned the attack on 14th of April on the airport in Erbil, where a CIA hangar is located. As well as the attack on the Ain al-Assad airbase, in the Iraqi province of Anbar, on 8th of May. And also an attack on an airbase in the north of Erbil, which is being used by the US Joint Special Operations Command.
According to ’The New York Times’ — «After many years of tough economic sanctions, Iran is using these armed groups in Iraq to increase the pressure on the USA and other states, in order to make them ease the restrictions, as part of a return to the nuclear deal of 2015».
