The Russian Embassy in Washington reported that the United States did not issue the entry visas for a delegation from the Russian Federal Treasury. They needed the visas to attend the Conference of the International Institute for the Regulation of the Audit Profession, planned on 3rd of December. It was noted that the State Department prevented the visit of the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s department for the work with compatriots living abroad, Oleg Malginov. He planned to attend the Youth Forum in New York on 28th and 29th of November in 2019.

The chairman of the Russian parliament’s foreign affairs committee, Leonid Slutsky, called the recent non-issuance of visas to the Russian officials by the US authorities to be a “visa war.” «Such actions make us think about the feasibility of holding the international events in the United States, including the ones done by the UN». Leonid Slutsky underlined that it wasn’t the first time when «the US have shown themselves to be an unfair partner during the organization of the multilateral meetings»
