An attack on the Russian diplomatic mission to Kabul

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian peacekeepers are securing the movement of civilians and their cars in the Lachin corridor, in Nagorno-Karabakh. «The peacekeepers ensure the safety of the civilian vehicles and the locals that move through the Lachin corridor, as well as the transportation of food and various goods. They escort and ensure the safety of the repair teams that are restoring the infrastructure» — the statement explained. The Russian Defense Ministry noted that since 14th of November, more than 26,000 refugees have returned to their homes.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, stated during a videoconference of the 27th meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council that the Agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh could have a positive impact on the relations between Ankara and Yerevan. «The agreement between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia represents a real opportunity for peace for the first time in 30 years. It certainly will have a positive impact on the regional stability, and on the Azerbaijani-Armenian and the Turkish-Armenian relations» — the minister explained.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that on Tuesday, in the city of Kabul, a car of the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan was hit by an exploded IED. It was noted that the staff of the embassy received a light concussion as a result of the explosion. According to the preliminary reports — the target of the terror attack was the vehicle of the Afghan National Security Forces that moved in front of the Russian diplomatic vehicle. The Russian Foreign Ministry doesn’t rule out that the attack was directed against Russian citizens as well. Maria Zakharova demanded Afghanistan to conduct a proper investigation of the incident, and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Russian foreign mission staff in Afghanistan. «The Russian embassy in Kabul is implementing additional measures, aimed to increase the degree of security of the personnel, and the facilities of the diplomatic mission» — the statement concluded.

The commander of a Russian military police platoon, Lieutenant Alexei Fadeev, reported that the Russian military conducted a patrol in the Hasakah province, in north-east of Syria. It was noted that the patrol route passed from the village of Qamyshly to the village of Andivar, and back. The purpose of the patrol was to study the situation in the settlements. The patrol route was about 30 km long. Russian military helicopters Mi-8 and Mi-35 carried out an air cover at extremely low altitudes. They also conducted air reconnaissance of the nearby areas. The patrol involved over 30 servicemen, and about 5 vehicles of the Russian military police, such as APCs ’’BTR-80’’, and armored vehicles «Rys».

The Japanese government announced a protest due to the deployment of the S-300V4 AA missile systems from the Russian Eastern Military District on the Kuril Islands — the TASS news agency reported with a reference to the press service of the Japanese Foreign Ministry. «The Japanese Embassy in Russia protested to the Russian Foreign Ministry while noting that such actions enhance the Russian military potential, and are thus incompatible with the position of our country on those islands» — the Japanese government stated. On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that several S-300V4 systems from the eastern military district took up the combat duty on the islands of the Kuril ridge.

The ’Al Alam’ TV reported while citing their sources that the nuclear scientist Mohsen Fahrizadeh was killed via automatic small arms, which were controlled via a satellite. It was noted that the assassination was organized by the Israeli special services. On Monday, the secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, confirmed that the murder of the scientist took place with the use of electronic equipment, without the presence of the killers at the crime scene. The Iranian Information Minister, Mahmoud Alawi, stated that the Iranian intelligence services won’t release any information about the murder until the end of their investigation.
