Pavel Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry agreed to jointly oppose the »Nord Stream 2» gas pipeline, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced. “It was agreed upon to continue to counter the efforts of implementation of the ‘Nord Stream 2’, which undermines the European energy security and stability” — the message on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said right after the meeting.
As a result of the Monday airstrike of the US-led international coalition — over 60 civilians died or were injured, the Syrian news agency SANA reports. The air attack was carried out on the village of Al-Sha’af in the province of Deir-ez-Zor, TASS reports. Earlier, on 9th of November, at least 26 Syrians became victims of a coalition air raid on the city of Hajin, located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
The US and the EU should maintain unity in the implementation of the sanctions against Russia, and resist Moscow’s attempts of splitting their transatlantic relations — the US ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland, announced on Tuesday. According to him, the United States remain committed to a strong partnership with the EU, despite some disagreements, and the United States consider these relations to be the most important for them. “With the regard to Russia, the US and the EU should maintain unity in the policy of sanctions, and resist the attempts of Moscow to divide us” — said Gordon Sondland, and added that the implementation of the »Nord Stream-2» project threatens the energy security of Europe. According to him, the United States are ready to work with Europe in order to achieve the energy security.
Russian president Vladimir Putin have arrived on a three-day visit to Singapore, where the Summit of the »Association of South-east Asian Nations» will take place. The Russian president plans to meet with the leadership of Singapore on Tuesday. Inter-agency documents and commercial contracts will be signed during the meeting, RIA NEWS report. The participation of the Russian president in the ASEAN summit and a number of other meetings are planned as well. In particular — the meetings with the prime minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, and South Korean president Moon Jae-in.
More than half a million of residents of the city «Krivoy Rog» remain without heating after the refusal of the company «Naftogaz of Ukraine» to supply gas to the heating plants because of their debts. Today, the protesters broke into the building of the gas distribution company, and blocked the building from the inside. They demand the company to resume the gas supply to the boilers in the city. New activists continue to arrive to the building. After the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” refused to supply gas to the heating plants — more than half a million of local residents were left without heating: in total, 2011 houses, 78 schools, 75 kindergartens and 22 hospitals.
Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary General, announced that 11 out of 29 NATO countries had increased their military spending up to 2% of their GDP, RIA NEWS reports. According to him, the Allies stopped cutting their defense spending. At the same time, he admitted that it is «extremely difficult to obtain the political support from the NATO states.» At the moment, the European members of NATO spend on defense less than 1.5% of their GDP, compared to 3% during the end of the Cold War.
