Militants intensified the shelling of Syrian troops

Vladimir Zelensky, the new president of Ukraine, announced the dissolution of the Ukrainian parliament, and early parliamentary elections within two months — TASS reports. He stated it during his first speech to the Ukrainian people, which he made in the Ukrainian Parliament immediately after taking his oath. Vladimir Zelensky urged the parliamentarians to adopt several important laws during the two remaining months of their authority. Such as depriving the parliamentarians of their immunity. He also demanded from the Ukrainian Parliament to dismiss the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Gritsak, the Prosecutor-General Yuri Lutsenko, and the Minister of Defense — Stepan Poltorak. By making an ultimatum to Turkey — the United States de-facto admitted their defeat in the negotiations on the purchase of the Russian S-400 AA missile systems. Earlier, the United States gave Turkey two weeks to cancel the purchase of the S-400s from Russia. It was clarified that otherwise Washington would exclude Ankara from the production program of F-35 fighters. The United States used the ultimatum as a pretext to impose sanctions, with which they had threatened Turkey during previous months. Despite all of this — Ankara announced that the deal on the S-400s is done, and it won’t be canceled.

The Air forces of the Libyan government of national consent performed air strikes on the positions of the Libyan National Army, headed by the Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in the north of the country — Interfax reports with a reference to the Anatolian news agency. A representative of the Government of Libya, Muhammad Kanunu, noted that the aircraft dealt 6 air-strikes against the positions of the Libyan National Army in the city of Garyan. «The purpose of the bombing was to stop the resupply of the army of Haftar with ammunition and military equipment» — the agency reported. Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Ukrainian political party ‘Batkivshchyna’, declared that the referendum on Ukraine’s negotiations with Russia is “Unacceptable”. She called for more strict sanctions against Russia from the international community, and for the enhancement of the combat capability of the Ukrainian army. “Ukraine needs peace as a basis for the development of the state. And for this purpose we need a strong army, the enhancement of sanctions against the aggressor country, and conduction of proper international negotiations, not a referendum on peace with Russia.» — ‘Interfax-Ukraine’ quoted her words. On 21st May it was reported that Vladimir Zelensky is considering a possibility of holding a referendum on the issue of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
